What is a Data Map Report?
A data map breaks down end topic by grouped topics. The map shows the results of the calculations graphically. You might also want to see the results of the calculations in tables in Excel. This allows you to use map calculations in other Excel formulas.
Start with a data set
The data set you see here is from the Data Map - Sales By Country example spreadsheet that comes with BigPicture.
Create a data map
Click the Data Map button to bring up the Data Map dialog box.
Select the grouped topics
Select the end topics
Here the end topics will be broken down by country and/or product, and they will show the sum of units sold and the sum of profit. Each of these calculations, along with counts of data rows, will be rolled up to the grouped topics. (You can also select pictures, markers, and filters, and you can choose the display settings, although these aren't as relevant to the data map report.)
View the data map
Here is the resulting data map, expanded so that you can see one of the end tables.
Select Data Map Report
View the data map report
This creates a report - a set of tables - on a new worksheet.
